On 6 December 2024, ELAC organised an ICC Assembly of States side event to critically assess the financial, operational and systemic issues faced when trying to gain access to information and evidence to support investigations and prosecutions. The event, ‘Future Directions for UN Investigative Mechanism support for domestic and international investigations’ looked at the issues within the context of the work of the newly-established OHCHR Inquiries Branch, previous proposals to establish a Standing Independent Investigative Mechanism by the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) and ELAC, and the work of the Office of the Prosecutor.
