The Humanitarian Civilian: A Book Launch with Dr. Rebecca Sutton

ELAC, the Edinburgh Centre for International and Global Law (ECIGL) and the Political Settlements Research Programme (PRSP) invite you to a book launch on Wednesday, 5 May at 12:30 BST. Dr. Rebecca Sutton, the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellow at Edinburgh Law School, will present her new book titled “The Humanitarian Civilian: How the Idea of Distinction Circulates Within and Beyond International Humanitarian Law.” The book explores challenges in international humanitarian law and international criminal justice as they apply to the distinction between civilians and combatants in areas of armed conflict. The study builds upon fieldwork conducted in South Sudan, civil-military training settings in Europe, and legal spaces in Geneva and the Hague.

Please register here (registration closes on 3 May at noon).
