Our Senior Visiting Fellow of Practice Ambassador Stephen Rapp was invited to participate and moderate in a high-level working group, convened by Lawyers for Justice in Libya jointly with the Centre for Human Rights Law at SOAS, and co-hosted by UN Commissioner Hanny Megally, with the aim to create guidelines for investigative mechanisms to engage effectively with civil society organisations. Through the leadership of Ms Mona Rishmawi,  Chief, Rule of Law, Equality and Non-Discrimination Branch Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and former Executive Director of the UN International Commission of Inquiry, the Working Group convened experts on 14 October and 2 December to discuss opportunities and risks of civil society engagement with commissions of inquiry with a view of identifying best practices for the future.
