ELAC Co-Director Janina Dill was quoted in a 7 February 2025 article by CNN on Donald Trump’s sanctioning of the International Criminal Court (ICC). According to Dill in the article, ‘What is the ICC and why has Trump sanctioned it?‘, this executive order “is a much more fundamental repudiation of the very project of the court” and has the power to symbolically undermine the ICC. Additionally, Dill noted that the new measures could cripple the courts work through a loss of funding by third parties who might fear US sanctions.
