ELAC Deputy Director and IPS Executive Director Federica D’Alessandra published an article titled Pursuing Accountability for the Crime of Aggression Against Ukraine in Revue Européene du Droit.
The article takes stock of the current debate on a Special Aggression Tribunal for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, addressing questions such as whether the International Criminal Court has jurisdiction over Ukraine, why the Rome Statute cannot simply be amended to give the Court jurisdiction, what issues are presented by immunities, and whether Ukraine itself can exercise jurisdiction over Russia’s aggression, and assesses pathways to the creation of a Special Tribunal.
The special issue also featured contributions from François Hollande, Josep Borrell and Jose Manuel Albares, among other prominent jurists and academics.
