From 3-8 July, the Oxford Consortium for Human Rights, co-led by ELAC Senior Research Fellows Hugo Slimand Cheyney Ryan, hosted a workshop for 30 students from the United States and South Korea titled Technology and Human Rights. The workshop explored the relationship between new technologies emerging and people’s continuous demands for human rights, and examined how the impact of new technology can be both enabling and restrictive of human rights. The course was taught by leading scholars from the University of Oxford and visiting human rights activists working on and with new technologies in various fields, including artificial intelligence, healthcare and climate change.
